Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is an entertaining, funny romp through the apocalypse with S.T., a fowl-mouthed crow, and his owner’s trusty dim-witted dog, Dennis.

The trouble started when S.T.’s owner, Big Jim’s, eyeball fell out. S.T. tries to cure Big Jim, but nothing he tries works. When S.T. figures out that humans have turned into zombies, he ventures outside to figure out what to do next. He and Dennis try to rescue other domesticated animals trapped inside after their masters turned. Their efforts are met with mixed results. Armed with his knowledge of the world through Big Jim and tv, S.T. braves the frightening new world to try to save humanity.

This book was very strange, but I liked it. It is very original and while it took me awhile to get into it, once I did, I enjoyed it. The snarky humor was very funny and I loved the crazy names S.T. came up with when he was insulting other animals. Very creative.

This was a book club book that I would have never picked up on my own, but am really glad I read it.
