Requiem of Silence (Earthsinger Chronicles #4) by L. Penelope

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a satisfying last book in a great fantasy series. Jasminda and Kyara face their final showdown with the True Father, who remains determined to conquer Elsira. Recently escaped from the palace dungeons, and potentially getting help from his twin sister The Goddess Awoken, the True Father has a new army of wraiths that can’t be killed and can only be stopped by Nethersong and the help of Earthsingers.

Paper & Blood (Ink & Sigil #2) by Kevin Hearne

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Another great book in Hearne’s new spinoff of the Iron Druid Chronicles series. This book has Al, Buck, Nadia, an Australian apprentice sigil agent and the Iron Druid tracking down the apprentice’s missing mentor and another sigil agent in the Australian Outback. Once they track the general location where the sigil agents went missing, they quickly run into some very strange monsters that are determined to eat and kill their way through everyone they face.

Capture the Crown (A Gargoyle Queen, #1) by Jennifer Estep

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I loved this first book in a new YA Fantasy trilogy set in the same world as the author’s Crown of Shards books. Here, we meet Princess Gemma Ripley, whose frivolous reputation hides her secret identity as a spy, and her skills as a powerful mind magier.

Crush the King (Crown of Shards #3) by Jennifer Estep

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is the final book in this fantastic Fantasy trilogy. Queen Everleigh Blair of Bellona has survived the mass murder of her royal family, trained and become a fierce gladiator, learned to harness her magic, usurped the traitor that took her family’s crown, become a queen and survived multiple assassination attempts. She’s tired. And she’s pissed.

Curse of the Specter Queen (Samantha Knox #1) by Jenny Elder Moke

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was a pretty good YA Fantasy book. There is also a mix of Historical Fiction and Mystery/Thriller in the book, so it’s a bit hard to categorize. There is plenty of action, elements of mythology and magic, with a touch of romance thrown in. It’s quite a mish mash.

Girl One by Sara Flannery Murphy

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was a good SciFi Mystery/Thriller about one of nine girls born without male DNA. The first girl, Josephine, has eschewed all contact and publicity regarding her life at the experimental commune called the “Homestead”. When her mother goes missing under mysterious circumstances, Josie finds herself tracking down her “sisters” in an effort to find her mother. As Josie follows the clues left by her mother, she and her sisters uncover dark secrets about their origin and abilities they possess.

The Promised Queen (Forgotten Empires #3) by Jeffe Kennedy

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is a satisfying ending to a good YA Fantasy trilogy. Conrí, former Crown Prince of Oriel, married Queen Euthalia of Calanthe to fulfill the prophecy that would end Emperor Anure’s cruel hold over the empire. But they failed. Con gave it all he had and Lia gave her life – temporarily- but nothing worked.
