Someone You Deserve (Carrington Cove book two) by Harlow James

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I really enjoyed reading Penn and Astrid’s story in book two of the series. Penn and Astrid’s husband Brandon were best friends. Brandon was in the military and died four years ago. Since then, Penn has been looking out for Astrid and her two kids. Having looked after them for years, Penn’s feelings begin to change and he finds himself falling in love with Astrid. She feels the same, but guilt keeps them both from confessing their feelings or acting on them.

Ice Ice Maybe by Rich Amooi

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This contemporary hockey romance was just too cute. One of my favorite romance tropes is fake dating, and this was one of the more unique ways the couple end up together. Plus, the book is set in San Diego where I live, so it was fun to read about places that I am familiar with that are mentioned in the book.

A Vile Season by Davide Ferraro

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I devoured this YA Historical Romance book in one day. It was such a fun read, with vampires, angry villagers, vampire hunters, dukes, court intrigue and revenge. The main character, Count Lucian, has been a vampire for centuries. He’s gotten comfortable living in a remote old castle with his servants and protege. But, all good things come to an end and he’s chased out of his castle by a group of vampire hunters.

At the End of the River Styx by Michelle Kulwicki

Book Tour:

I’m happy to be a part of TBR Beyond Tours book tour for the new YA Fantasy At the End of the River Styx by Michelle Kulwicki that came out on Sept. 24, 2024.

I just started reading this book and I’m already hooked. I love the two main characters and can relate to their feelings of guilt and shame. The book is beautifully written and I can’t wait to see what happens. I’ll write a full review once I’ve finished the book.

Saved by the Matchmaker (A Shanahan Match #2) by Jody Hedlund

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 2 in a sweet Christian historical fiction romance set in St. Louis in the 1800s. The couples in the series are aided by a young matchmaker following in his father’s footsteps. But, instead of considering the social and financial interests of the couple and their families, the young matchmaker has a keen ability to match people who are actually suited to each other and destined to fall in love.

The Placebo Love Effect (Residents in Romance book 2) by Kathryn Riya

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I enjoyed this sweet rom com that centers on one of my favorite tropes – fake dating. Miley is an anesthesia resident and Rohit is an ICU nurse and tennis coach. Their best friends are dating each other and both are very close to their sibling and family. Miley and Rohit identify closely with their cultures, which along with problems with past exes, dampens their dating lives. When Miley’s best friend can’t attend a Planned Parenthood gala, Miley asks Rohit to attend with her as friends. When they see each other out of their scrubs, however, their hearts go pitter pat.

The Love Position (Foxbrooke, #4) by Evie Alexander

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 4 in the Foxbrooke series but can be read as a stand-alone. This book centers on Sophia Hunter-Savage, sister of James Hunter-Savage who is the love interest of Lady Estelle Foxbrooke in the previous book, The Upper Crush. In this book, archeologist Sophia has just suffered a double whammy. Her long-time boyfriend cheated on her with two of his students, and then stole credit for an important historical find that Sophia actually made. Crushed, and suffering from extreme anxiety, she returns home to figure out her next steps.
