Master of Furies (The Firemane Saga #3) by Raymond Feist

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a great conclusion to this series, and sets the scene nicely for what I hope will be a new series with some of these characters. This book picks up right after the events of the second book.

Things We Do in the Dark by Jennifer Hillier

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is yet another great book by Hillier. This book is a bit different from her other books, and not nearly as creepy. That doesn’t mean it is bad – it’s just different than expected.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a very good historical fiction that follows the rise of an iconic 1970s rock band and their mysterious breakup at the height of their popularity. The story is told through a series of interviews of the band members, managers and their friends. I listened to the audio and the cast did a fantastic job of portraying the story.

The 24 Hour Dating Agency by Mary Jayne Baker

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was an ok contemporary romance novel. It follows the exploits of three co-workers and friends at a monthly periodical (not a magazine, mind you) as they sign up with a dating service that promises to deliver your soulmate during one 24 hour long date. The service boasts a 100% success rate, and promises a money-back guarantee if the match is not successful.

The Final Strife (The Final Strike Trilogy #1) by Saara El-Arifi

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a good first book in a new YA Fantasy African and Arabian-inspired trilogy. The Empire is ruled by four rulers. Every ten years a trial of combat and skill is held to determine the Empire’s new rulers, who will intern with the current rulers until it’s time for them to take over.

Her latest buy is a huge Victorian mansion that requires a lot of work. While vetting contractors for the project, Maggie meets hunky landscaper Silas and his pitbull rescue dog Kevin. Silas is a huge flirt and is determined to break down Maggie’s walls, worm himself into her life, and convince her to finally put down roots.

I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was June’s book for my online book club, We Get Lit. It’s a very cute YA Queer Rom Com set during the last couple months of the main characters’ senior year at a private Christian high school in a small town in Alabama. Chloe Green moved to Alabama from L.A. with her two moms. She spent four years of high school avoiding gossipy popular kids and jocks, happy with her nerdy theater friends. The only thing keeping Chloe going is winning valedictorian. Her only competition is beautiful prom queen, and daughter of the principal, Shara Wheeler.

Local Gone Missing by Fiona Barton

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I wanted to like this contemporary mystery/thriller more, but it fell a bit flat for me. I liked the main character, detective Elise King, who is on medical leave as she battles cancer. She spends her day watching tensions rise between the local small town residents and the weekenders that invade the town each weekend. During a musical festival two teenagers suffer a drug overdose and are hospitalized and one well-liked elderly man disappears. Elise discovers his body a couple days later and she finds herself suddenly brought back to work and in charge of the investigation.
