Trouble by Lex Croucher

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was a fun historical romance with a lot of diverse characters. Emily’s sister Amy is sick and they don’t have money for a doctor. So, Emily poses as Amy and takes Amy’s new position as a governess at Fairmont House. But Emily isn’t like Amy. She’s not polite, she’s not polished, and she has never taught a child in her life. She is, however, determined to make this job last long enough to get a few paychecks, and maybe a few trinkets to pawn, so Amy can get the treatment she needs.

Icon and Inferno (Stars and Smoke #2) by Marie Lu

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was a fun YA Mystery/Romance. I didn’t realize this was book 2 of a series, but this book is a stand alone mystery so I didn’t feel too lost.

But now, the agency needs cover that only Winter can provide, so Sydney makes contact again. The timing couldn’t be better as damaging secrets of Winter plays out in the tabloids and he’s ready to get away for a bit. Their mission is dangerous and doesn’t go as expected, but that’s when their training kicks in.

The Art of Murder (The Village Detectives #1) by Fiona Walker

This is a cozy mystery with colorful characters, plenty of twists, and a quirky English village as a backdrop. Former comic Juno has returned to England to care for her elderly mother who is engaged to a smarmy man who may or may not be a wife-killer. She hopes her friend Phoebe, who is a disgraced journalist turned novelist, can help her figure out if her mother’s fiance is hiding a murderous past. But before the duo can get into that mystery, an local art dealer washes up dead on the village’s famous river bank. Thus is the origin story of The Village Detectives.

This was a fun YA book about a former heiress taking revenge on the father that kicked her and her mother out of their mansion with nothing after the divorce. Barely scraping by, and with mounting medical bills piling up, Olivia spends months enlisting fellow high schoolers to enact the perfect plan of vengeance. Even better, it all takes place during her father’s third wedding. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a great romantic suspense with a superhot new book boyfriend you’ll want for your very own. Miles is smart, capable, hot and possessive.
