The Ladies Rewrite the Rules by Suzanne Allain

Rating: 4 out of 5.

You guys, this book is so cute! It’s a fun and flirty Regency England historical romance about what happens when the tables are turned against men’s complete control over courtships. Diana Boyle is a wealthy widow who has no desire to get married again. She discovers that she’s listed in a directory of rich, single women to help younger sons without a fortune score a rich wife. Diana is furious and confronts Maxwell, the man that wrote the list.

Curse of the Winter Lord by Susan Shepard

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a great stand-alone dark fantasy involving a witch, a courageous girl, a cursed lord, and a dangerous adventure. Althena lives in a small, idyllic town until winter comes and never leaves. The town blames the nearby magical woods, especially when a stranger arrives and children start to go missing. Blaming herself, Althena enters the woods to rescue the children and save the town. Lord Winter lives in the wood and has been cursed to turn into a wolf every full moon. Believing he can break the curse by capturing 12 innocents and performing a ritual, he didn’t count on Althena.

The Lily of Ludgate Hill (Belles of London #3) by Mimi Matthews

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a wonderful Victorian romance set in London about two childhood friends whose romance always seems to be just out of step. This is book 3 in the Belles of London series, but can be read as a standalone. Lady Anne and Felix “Hart” Hartford are childhood friends. When Anne was only 16, Felix proposed and they had an understanding. Shortly thereafter Anne’s father died, plunging her mother into a 7 year spiral of grief, taking Anne with her. After their broken engagement, Felix never gives up hope they will get back together.

A Murderous Persuasion (Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery #2) by Katie Oliver

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is another great cozy mystery with Jane Austen vibes. While this is book 2 of the series, it’s a standalone mystery and can be read without having read the first book. In fact, I’ve read this series completely out of order and I’ve still enjoyed them all.

The Fury by Alex Michaelides

Rating: 3 out of 5.

3 stars

This is a twisty suspenseful mystery set amongst the rich and famous. Lana Farrar is a reclusive ex–movie star and one of the most famous women in the world. When she discovers one of her inner circle has betrayed her, she invites them to escape the English weather and spend Easter on her idyllic private Greek island. She’s hoping to call out the betrayal and let the person squirm before she bans them from her life. While on the island a strong wind storm, called a fury, envelopes the island. The storm is the perfect setting for a mystery – and maybe even an unexpected death.

The Expectant Detectives (The Expectant Detectives #1) by Kat Ailes

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was a fun and cozy mystery set in the small town of Penton. Alice and her boyfriend Joe move there to escape the rat race of London. The night of their first prenatal class they meet several other pregnant ladies and their partners. Everything was going well until one of the ladies goes into labor and a dead body is found on the first floor of the building. Their whole group are under suspicion, so the ladies decide to solve the mystery and clear their names. As you can expect, chaos ensues.

Swipe Right For Romance (A Love Bug Novel Book 1) by Kelly Collins

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a fun and flirty romcom set around an app competition. It has several of my favorite tropes including “he falls first” “fake dating trope & billionaire romance.

Junie comes to AJs rescue & pretends to be his girlfriend to appease his matchmaking mother at dinner. The next day, you guessed it, he’s in charge of the app competition she just entered.

Fake-ish by Winter Renshaw

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance about a couple that meet during a joint island bachelor/bachelorette party, spend a glorious few days together, and plan to take 2 years apart to get their life sorted out and then get back together. What could go wrong?

Pride, Prejudice, and Peril (The Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery #1) by Katie Oliver

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 1 in the Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery series, but the books are set up to be standalone mysteries, so you can read them out of order. I did that when I read Cyanide and Sensibility earlier this month. I enjoyed that book, and I enjoyed this book too, which introduced me to all of the characters.
