If You Claim Me (Toronto Terror, #5) by Helena Hunting

I love the Toronto Terror book series and the found family it’s created. This is book 5 in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Mildred (Dred to her friends) is so strong I instantly loved her. She has a lot of past trauma but she actively works to not let it affect her life. Connor is so broken and misunderstood my heart melted every time someone put him down and he had to act like it didn’t affect him. Being a grumpy jerk is his defense mechanism, but his mask slips when he’s with Dred. I loved that she saw right through his act to the man beneath and gave him comfort and support.

I love books set in Jane Austen’s world, and if it features a fiery woman that can’t hold her tongue, or her actions, when she encounters cruelty or stupid people, I’m all in.

Flora is Mr. Darcy’s niece and lives in Scotland with her family. When she can’t help but insult the wealthy and powerful man her family wants her to marry, she’s shipped off to England to stay at Pemberley to learn how to be a lady. This is the third book in the Temple Hill Mystery series but can be read as a stand alone. The book features mystery novelist Radhi Zaveri, who has helped the police with previous cases. She has a new short-term job teaching spoiled kids at Mumbai’s prestigious North Star High School. A cantankerous English teacher is found dead at the school and initially the police rule it as natural causes, but Radhi isn’t so sure.

My Favorite Holidate (How to Date #5) by Lauren Blakely

This book is so adorable! I love the fake dating trope, and this one is done very well. Fable works as a creative in marketing for Wilder’s company. She’s funny, cheery, sunny, goes out of her way for her friends and is an overall delight. He’s a serious billionaire single dad that likes order and being in charge. The two have mutual friends and are the best man/maid of honor for their friend’s wedding. Fable needs a date for the wedding to show her cheating ex-boyfriend that she’s fine. Wilder needs a date to get his overbearing, matchmaking aunt to back off setting him up. They decide to fake date for the wedding, and the week of fun and games in the small town where the wedding will be held. No problem. They’re friends. It’s only a week. They can fake it, right? Right.

This book is so good!! It starts out with a bang and doesn’t let up until the end. The FMC Leina is a total bada** and I was behind her the whole time. After a horrific event Leina’s warrior ability comes out in full force and she has to go on the run. Turns out she’s an Altor, which is forbidden in the kingdom. She’s “recruited” (against her will) to train at an academy for Altor’s. I love books that include warrior training. The grueling tests, competitions, villains and rivalries are always fun to read. Add in found family vibes and I’m hooked.
