Right Number (Getting it Right #1) by Ella Sparkle

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I’m a sucker for books that includes text conversations between the main characters, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. It is such a cute closed door romance I found myself smiling the whole time I read it. Anna is a college Junior Art student on the east coast and is having a horrible, terrible day. That is, until she gets a text from Mason. He’s on the west coast and is looking for a woman named Susan he recently met at a bar to ask her out for a drink. Anna tells him he’s got the wrong number, but instead of that being the end of that, they keep texting each other. Their conversation continues until a sweet friendship begins.

Christmas off Script (Foxbrooke, #5) by Evie Alexander

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 5 in the Foxbrooke book series and it’s time for Leo to fall in love. It’s a fun and sexy friends-to-lovers contemporary romance. Leo and Ella have been best friends since they were teenagers – but they are both secretly in love with the other. When Ella’s long-term boyfriend suddenly breaks up with her – by phone, no less – and kicks her out of their shared home, Leo comes to her rescue and takes her to his home at Foxbrooke Manor.

Because Fat Girl by Lauren Marie Fleming

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down and read it in only two days. The book is well-written and touches on subjects that should be talked about more. The female main character Diana identifies as fat and queer. She is a writer and filmmaker that tackles one obstacle after another to get her work funded and produced. I could relate to her struggle to achieve her dreams. It’s so hard to see less talented people that are connected get breaks when you can’t get one no matter how hard you work.

Someone You Deserve (Carrington Cove book two) by Harlow James

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I really enjoyed reading Penn and Astrid’s story in book two of the series. Penn and Astrid’s husband Brandon were best friends. Brandon was in the military and died four years ago. Since then, Penn has been looking out for Astrid and her two kids. Having looked after them for years, Penn’s feelings begin to change and he finds himself falling in love with Astrid. She feels the same, but guilt keeps them both from confessing their feelings or acting on them.

Ice Ice Maybe by Rich Amooi

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This contemporary hockey romance was just too cute. One of my favorite romance tropes is fake dating, and this was one of the more unique ways the couple end up together. Plus, the book is set in San Diego where I live, so it was fun to read about places that I am familiar with that are mentioned in the book.

A Vile Season by Davide Ferraro

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I devoured this YA Historical Romance book in one day. It was such a fun read, with vampires, angry villagers, vampire hunters, dukes, court intrigue and revenge. The main character, Count Lucian, has been a vampire for centuries. He’s gotten comfortable living in a remote old castle with his servants and protege. But, all good things come to an end and he’s chased out of his castle by a group of vampire hunters.
