The Ever King (The Ever Seas #1) by L.J. Andrews

Rating: 4 out of 5.

4.5 stars

Wow. What a ride! I devoured this book in two days and can’t wait to start reading the next book The Ever Queen. This book is set in the same world as the Broken Kingdom series, which I haven’t read, but can be read without having read that series first. I, however, will be adding that series onto my TBR immediately. This book was first published in 2023 but somehow I missed it. It was just re-released on August 5, 2025 in hardcover format by Ace Books with exclusive bonus content.

Feather and Famine: The Withering Saga – Book 1 by Mariah L. Rosewood

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is such a good first book in a new fantasy trilogy. The Elf kingdom of Ittora is suffering from a years-long famine they believe was caused by a Fey curse. Ayse is the daughter of an apothecary that stumbles upon a magical birch tree in the woods that regenerates itself that she believes may be the key to breaking the famine. It’s outside a log cabin where Aiden, a grumpy mysterious stranger has taken up residence. They are both haunted by their past and desperate to figure out a way to stop the famine. Prince Seok pushes his mother the Queen to declare war on the Fey hoping to force them to stop the famine. He uncovers something amiss with the rations and works to figure out if there is a conspiracy to hoard rations.

Paper & Blood (Ink & Sigil #2) by Kevin Hearne

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Another great book in Hearne’s new spinoff of the Iron Druid Chronicles series. This book has Al, Buck, Nadia, an Australian apprentice sigil agent and the Iron Druid tracking down the apprentice’s missing mentor and another sigil agent in the Australian Outback. Once they track the general location where the sigil agents went missing, they quickly run into some very strange monsters that are determined to eat and kill their way through everyone they face.
