Flora: The Cousins of Pemberley by Linda O’Byrne

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I love books set in Jane Austen’s world, and if it features a fiery woman that can’t hold her tongue, or her actions, when she encounters cruelty or stupid people, I’m all in.

Flora is Mr. Darcy’s niece and lives in Scotland with her family. When she can’t help but insult the wealthy and powerful man her family wants her to marry, she’s shipped off to England to stay at Pemberley to learn how to be a lady. She’s waylaid at her cousin’s house, Courtney Castle, where she is reacquainted with Daniel Kincaid, who witnessed the outburst in Scotland that precipitated her journey to Pemberley. Flora wants independence and Daniel wants a genteel lady to share his life with, but we all know neither one is getting that, right?

Cause to Repine by E.M. Storm-Smith

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I’m was excited to be a part of Kate Rock Book Tours tour of this book which came out on Feb. 8. This historical fiction re-telling of Pride and Prejudice is a delight to read. I’m always a sucker for a Jane Austen re-telling, and this does not disappoint. It has the story we all know and love, with just a enough differences to make the story new. I loved the softer, less grumpy Darcy. The beautiful friendship that he and Elizabeth grow during the majority of the book is wonderful to read. Their cute banter and quiet flirting gave me all the feels. I also loved the way the author resolved the marriage of Mr. Collins.

Pride and Preston Lin by Christina Hwang Dudley and Christina Dudley

Rating: 4 out of 5.

3.5 stars rounded up

I don’t read many re-tellings, but when I see a re-telling of any Jane Austen book I snap it up. It helped that Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite Jane Austen books.

Pride, Prejudice, and Peril (The Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery #1) by Katie Oliver

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 1 in the Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery series, but the books are set up to be standalone mysteries, so you can read them out of order. I did that when I read Cyanide and Sensibility earlier this month. I enjoyed that book, and I enjoyed this book too, which introduced me to all of the characters.

Cyanide and Sensibility (Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery #3) by Katie Oliver

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 3 of A Jane Austen Tea Society Mystery series, and it’s a sweet and cute cozy mystery. This is a stand alone mystery, so you don’t need to have read the first 2 books to enjoy this one. I haven’t read them, and I found enough backstory in the book to understand everyone’s relationships and history.

Jane and the Final Mystery ( Being a Jane Austen Mystery Book 15) by Stephanie Barron

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I had the pleasure of reading 𝙅𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙮 by 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗻. It’s the last book in the Being a Jane Austen Mystery series, but can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the previous books but I didn’t feel lost in the book or that I was missing anything. This Jane Austen inspired historical mystery was a pleasure to read. The comfort of reading Austen- like writing was like cuddling with a warm blanket in front of a fire.

What Would Jane Austen Do by Linda Corbett

Rating: 4 out of 5.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that two hundred year old Jane Austen quotes and advice is timeless and no less relevant today. This is an adorable contemporary romantic comedy about love, community, and finding lost family history. Maddy Shaw is a Jane Austen fan and journalist that wrote a column called Dear Jane dispensing advice with a Jane Austen spin. She was unceremoniously fired by email and left with no job and no way to pay rent on her London flatshare.
