Because Fat Girl by Lauren Marie Fleming

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down and read it in only two days. The book is well-written and touches on subjects that should be talked about more. The female main character Diana identifies as fat and queer. She is a writer and filmmaker that tackles one obstacle after another to get her work funded and produced. I could relate to her struggle to achieve her dreams. It’s so hard to see less talented people that are connected get breaks when you can’t get one no matter how hard you work.

A Vile Season by Davide Ferraro

I devoured this YA Historical Romance book in one day. It was such a fun read, with vampires, angry villagers, vampire hunters, dukes, court intrigue and revenge. The main character, Count Lucian, has been a vampire for centuries. He’s gotten comfortable living in a remote old castle with his servants and protege. But, all good things come to an end and he’s chased out of his castle by a group of vampire hunters.

This Day Changes Everything by Edward Underhill

I really enjoyed author @edwardunderhill ‘s first book, Always the Almost and despite being decades away from high school and all the angst it entails, I still felt seen. I couldn’t put the book down and just sighed with a big smile on my face after I read it. So, when I saw that he had another book coming out, you know I was knocking down @wednesdaybooks door for an ARC copy of it – and boy, I was not disappointed!!

Second Chances in New Port Stephen by T.J. Alexander

I loved this contemporary LGBTQIA romance set during the Christmas holidays in Florida. After getting fired from his tv writing job, Eli returns to his childhood home in New Port Stephen, FL for the holidays. As he navigates dealing with his family and feelings, he runs into his high school ex Nick. Nick is divorced with a precocious 4 year old daughter and is running the local restaurant. Sparks fly between the couple, which only serves to confuse them both because the last time they dated, Eli was a teenage girl. At almost 40, he finally feels at one with his mind and body, and wants to selfishly protect the peace he’s found within himself, despite his attraction to Nick. For his part, Nick is surprised that his feelings for Eli are still there, even if Eli’s exterior doesn’t match up with Nick’s memories.

The Unstoppable Bridget Bloom by Allison L. Bitz

I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. As a former high school theater nerd myself, I could totally relate to Bridget’s angst, as well as the personalities and quirks of her friends. Bridget’s growth in the story was incredible and I liked how the author was able to subtly show these changes throughout the book, without hitting us over the head with it. The realization at the end of the book was almost a surprise, even though you had been along for the ride with Bridget from the start.

The Other Merlin (Emry Merlin, #1) by Robyn Schneider

This is a fun YA Fantasy re-telling of Camelot. Arthur is an intelligent bookworm that isn’t much of a fighter. Lancelot is a gay castle guard that was demoted from a page (on track to becoming a knight) after a misunderstanding. Both we content bumbling along until Arthur accidentally pulls the sword from the stone, and now everyone thinks he’s some kind of hero. Emry Merlin poses as her twin brother at court to learn magic and serve Arthur. It’s supposed to be temporary, but nothing goes to plan and she’s there permanently. Princess Guinevere is betrothed to Arthur, but neither wants to marry the other.

This was a cute and fun LGTBQ+ contemporary romance. Paris is a hot mess. He’s got a cat, a degree, a roommate and a love for baking. But, his constant self-doubt and second-guessing have left him a hot mess. His roommate enters him into the country’s biggest baking competition (think The Great British Bake Off) and he’s excited and nauseas at the same time, thinking he’ll be the first one sent home. To his surprise, he wins the first challenge, despite hitting a fellow contestant, Tariq, in the face with his refrigerator door. But, the public scrutiny is harsh, interacting with the fellow contestants is nerve-wracking, and Paris spirals.

The service boasts a 100% success rate, and promises a money-back guarantee if the match is not successful.
