Trouble by Lex Croucher

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was a fun historical romance with a lot of diverse characters. Emily’s sister Amy is sick and they don’t have money for a doctor. So, Emily poses as Amy and takes Amy’s new position as a governess at Fairmont House. But Emily isn’t like Amy. She’s not polite, she’s not polished, and she has never taught a child in her life. She is, however, determined to make this job last long enough to get a few paychecks, and maybe a few trinkets to pawn, so Amy can get the treatment she needs.

Icon and Inferno (Stars and Smoke #2) by Marie Lu

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This was a fun YA Mystery/Romance. I didn’t realize this was book 2 of a series, but this book is a stand alone mystery so I didn’t feel too lost.

Sydney is a spy and Winter is a popstar. They had a fling a year ago on an undercover mission and went their separate ways, not expecting to see each other again. But now, the agency needs cover that only Winter can provide, so Sydney makes contact again. The timing couldn’t be better as damaging secrets of Winter plays out in the tabloids and he’s ready to get away for a bit. Their mission is dangerous and doesn’t go as expected, but that’s when their training kicks in.

Even better, it all takes place during her father’s third wedding. What could possibly go wrong?

4.5 stars

This was such a sweet, cute love story. Genevieve is a social influencer that touts her single girl life. Unfortunately, what she’d really like is to find the one, settle down, and start a family. Finlay falls too hard and too fast, and he has two failed engagements to show for it. This is a great romantic suspense with a superhot new book boyfriend you’ll want for your very own. Miles is smart, capable, hot and possessive. Book Tour Review

Hope is Fireproof

I’m so excited to be a part of TBR Beyond Tours book tour of This Book Won’t Burn written by Samira Ahmed. It just came out on May 7 and as book lovers, you will NOT want to miss out on reading this powerful book.

If you’re against banning books, this book will make you mad, sad, happy, and hopeful. That basically sums up my feelings. My sister was an 8th and 9th grade English teacher for 40 years, and getting kids to read all kinds of books was a main focus. She bought books with her own money and set up a library of dozens and dozens (maybe even hundreds) of books in her classroom. She loaned books out to students and knew how to recommend just the right book to get a student interested in reading. I know that if she were still working at a school, hers would be the loudest voice of all.

The Upper Crush (Foxbrooke #3) by Evie Alexander

Rating: 4 out of 5.

James Hunter-Savage is the perfect name for an enemy, and Lady Estelle Foxbrooke has despised him since she and her twin brother Henry were 13 and James relentlessly tormented Henry at Eton. If that wasn’t bad enough, James and Henry worked at the same company and James stole the biggest deal and client that Henry had. James is the devil. Beelzebub incarnate…..he’s, he’s, he’s, Estelle’s new business partner. What just happened?!
