This was June’s book for my online book club, We Get Lit. It’s a very cute YA Queer Rom Com set during the last couple months of the main characters’ senior year at a private Christian high school in a small town in Alabama. Chloe Green moved to Alabama from L.A. with her two moms. She spent four years of high school avoiding gossipy popular kids and jocks, happy with her nerdy theater friends. The only thing keeping Chloe going is winning valedictorian. Her only competition is beautiful prom queen, and daughter of the principal, Shara Wheeler.

Luna Wolf (The Moon Alpha #1) by G. Bailey

This is a decent first book in a new fantasy paranormal series about shapeshifters at war. Nyx is a wolf shapeshifter that can’t shift. When she turns 18 she’s banished from her pack and is recruited to attend Luna Alpha Academy, a school that accepts rejects from packs and trains them to be magical fighters. Nyx is less than thrilled with the prospect, but having nowhere else to go and desperate to become useful so she can return to her pack, she reluctantly agrees.

I tried really hard to like this contemporary romance more, but just couldn’t do it. It has all of the fun tropes you can want, working relationship frenemies, fake dating, celebrity MCs and the entertainment industry, but I just couldn’t get past the male MCs behavior.

This was the May choice for our “We Get Lit Book Club” Instagram book club. It was also my very first Colleen Hoover book, and I’m glad it was. I enjoyed this contemporary romance/drama about a mother’s quest to reunite with the 4 year-old daughter she had to give up.

Except the small town is nothing like the ones on tv, the only man she’s found, Finn, is from NYC, and the story she thought she could write doesn’t exist.

At the beginning of the book, London has just broken up with her boyfriend, so when Jackson approaches her in a bar and asks her out, she politely turns him down. She’s just not ready to date yet.

This is a cute contemporary romance set in the science world of Stanford University. Third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith, is focused on her career and doesn’t believe in long-lasting relationships. But, her best friend Anh does and so in order to convince her that she isn’t interested in her ex-boyfriend anymore, Olive kisses the first person she runs into in the hallway. The problem is, that person just happens to be young hot-shot professor Adam Carlson. He’s smart and gorgeous – but also a total jerk that has ruined many Ph.D. candidate’s lives, including friends of hers.

This is a fun and flirty historical fiction romance set in 1550 Scotland. This is book 3 of the series, but it is a stand alone story. I haven’t read the first 2 books, but there was enough background that I didn’t feel like I missed too much. Gideon Sinclair is one of four sons raised by their father to be the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in their clan. Gideon is Justice and has spent his life learning the law and dispensing justice to the members of his clan.
