Writing Mr. Wrong by Kelley Armstrong

This is a cute hockey second chance rom com. Gemma is an author and wrote a romance featuring a jerk based on her first crush. He just happens to be bad boy NHL player Mason. They knew each other growing up and after he allowed his friends to embarrass her, he was dead to her. Gemma and Mason are both going through their own crisis with their future, and are struggling with how to get through it. When Gemma appears on a tv talk show with a former classmate and she ambushes her with Mason, pointing out that he must be her inspiration for her new book, their publicists jump on the chance to help further their careers. They end up fake dating, and we all know what happens next.

Never Been Shipped by Alicia Thompson

This is a sweet friends to lovers romance focusing on Micah and John. They meet in high school and as teenagers form a band with other friends that takes off in popularity. They release an album and tour the world, until the band breaks up just before they turn 20 years old. Ten years later the band is recruited to reunite for one more performance on a tv-show themed cruise. John misses Micah and performing with the band. They were best friends growing up and he’s secretly been in love with her since he was 12. Micah dreads getting back with the band and facing the mistakes and heartache that forced her to break from the band in the first place. But, she misses John and wants to connect with him again.

The Side Project by Laurel Osterkamp

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a great story about family, secrets, friendships, and second chances. The main characters have gone through a lot in the past and have their walls up. After joining together to be partners for their writing class, which they keep secret from Rylee’s best friend and Carson’s sister, they embark on a secret “no-strings attached” fling meant to last just until their class ends. The couple has a lot of chemistry so it’s no surprised that things get complicated when they develop real feelings for each other.
