I’m so excited to be a part of TBR Beyond Tours book tour of This Book Won’t Burn written by Samira Ahmed. It just came out on May 7 and as book lovers, you will NOT want to miss out on reading this powerful book.
If you’re against banning books, this book will make you mad, sad, happy, and hopeful. That basically sums up my feelings. My sister was an 8th and 9th grade English teacher for 40 years, and getting kids to read all kinds of books was a main focus. She bought books with her own money and set up a library of dozens and dozens (maybe even hundreds) of books in her classroom. She loaned books out to students and knew how to recommend just the right book to get a student interested in reading. I know that if she were still working at a school, hers would be the loudest voice of all.

I really enjoyed author @edwardunderhill ‘s first book, Always the Almost and despite being decades away from high school and all the angst it entails, I still felt seen. I couldn’t put the book down and just sighed with a big smile on my face after I read it. So, when I saw that he had another book coming out, you know I was knocking down @wednesdaybooks door for an ARC copy of it – and boy, I was not disappointed!!

This is a really cute YA contemporary romance that is a quick and easy read. It’s the quintessential regular person/famous person doppelganger switch story. Red just graduated high school in Iowa. She lives on a farm with her large family and intends to attend college and come back and run the family farm. Zay Zay is a young global pop star that is uber famous and seemingly has a charmed life. When Red is taped singing and pretending to be Zay Zay, the video goes viral, and Zay Zay’s plan to sneak away from her life for a week is hatched. Red only needs to fly to LA, attend a few red carpets, and a date with Zay’s hot famous fake boyfriend. What could possibly go wrong?

This is a really good, creepy YA mystery/thriller that keeps your attention from page one. The book opens with Casey being mad that her sister Sutton is missing. She’s convinced that Sutton took off for selfish reasons and is laughing that everyone is frantically looking for her. Casey puts on a show as a worried sister for the cameras, but inside she’s fuming. There is no love lost between her and Sutton, but no way is she telling the police about their argument just before Sutton went missing.
