This is a cute and fluffy contemporary grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers romantic comedy that is a quick and easy read. The story involves Brian and Sarah. Brian lost his girlfriend, job and apartment and finds himself moving into his sister Jess’s tiny apartment. Sarah’s boyfriend proposed to her and when she said no, he kicked her out and she returned to live with her former roommate Jess. Brian and Sarah don’t like each other and fight over the second bedroom in the apartment. But, after being forced to interact with each other on a daily basis, their hatred turns into something else.
I enjoyed the flirty banter between Brian and Sarah. Their pranks were cute and I would have loved more of it in the book. It was fun to see Brian’s grumpiness thaw and Sarah’s awareness of Brian’s hotness grow. When the couple got together their chemistry sparked. I really dislike the miscommunication trope and third act break-up, but the author did a good job of making it much more realistic and understandable here. I almost didn’t cringe when I read it. I didn’t like Jess because she seemed unnecessarily grumpy, paranoid, and bitchy. Despite Brian and Sarah’s devotion to her, she didn’t act like a good friend or sister. Brian’s new work friends added a lot of humor and levity in the book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I received a complimentary e-copy of this book from Kate Rock Book Tours. All opinions are my own.
