I really enjoyed this book and series. I read this series and The Winston Brothers series backwards, but I still loved both of them, so no big deal. Plus, it’s a great excuse to read them all again! This series is set in Chicago and revolves around 7 women that are in the same knitting group. Janie doesn’t knit, but she likes to drink and dish with the other women every week. The women are either roommates or co-workers of each other, but eventually become one unified force of bad-assery, and I’m there for all of it. I wish I had a circle of friends as loyal and tenacious as this group.

Each book in the series is focused on one woman and the man that wins her heart. In this book, Janie is the focus. She’s wired a bit different from everyone else, and spouts “fun facts” whenever she gets nervous or doesn’t know what to say. The information is always germaine to the conversation, but just a bit technical and random. Janie loses her job, boyfriend and apartment in one day. To top it off, Quinn Sullivan, Mr. McHotPants, witnesses it all. He keeps turning up and to Janie’s utter dismay, offers her a job she can’t refuse. Suddenly, everything that made Janie an outcast is accepted, and appreciated, by Quinn and her new co-workers. The new job is perfect for her, but Janie struggles not lusting after Quinn, her new boss.

I loved Janie and Quinn’s interactions. The sparks fly off the page and the chemistry between the two is off the charts hot. Quinn is that mysterious bad-boy that every girl swooned over in high school. But now that bad-boy is all grown up, wealthy, and wearing bespoke designer suits. He knows what he wants, and he wants Janie. There are plenty of laughs, angst, and spice in this book to will make you ignore your responsibilities and read all the way through to the end. Then, you’ll immediately buy the next book in the series and start that one.

I discovered Penny Reid this year. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a new author whose books I devoured, and I love it. If you have audible, I highly recommend you listen to all of the books. The narrators are fantastic and bring the books to life. Listening to them definitely adds to the enjoyment.
