I enjoyed this sweet rom com that centers on one of my favorite tropes – fake dating. Miley is an anesthesia resident and Rohit is an ICU nurse and tennis coach. Their best friends are dating each other and both are very close to their sibling and family. Miley and Rohit identify closely with their cultures, which along with problems with past exes, dampens their dating lives. When Miley’s best friend can’t attend a Planned Parenthood gala, Miley asks Rohit to attend with her as friends. When they see each other out of their scrubs, however, their hearts go pitter pat.
When Miley unexpectedly runs into her sister at the gala and mistakes Rohit for her date, the couple find themselves fake dating. Planning to only keep the ruse up for a short time, events conspire to keep the couple together longer and longer. You know what happens next – the couple falls for each other.
I really liked Miley and Rohit. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about each of their cultures and the book frequently made me hungry reading about all the food! The couple are both loving, caring people that will do anything for their friends and family. They are kind to each other and although unsure of the other’s feelings, find themselves slowly falling for each other despite their determination not to. Both of their sisters are funny forces of nature and I loved reading about their relationship. The ups and downs of their “courtship” was pretty realistic and it was refreshing to read a story with adults acting like adults and not overreacting or acting like a fool.
If you’re looking for a sweet rom com with all the feelings that is a quick and easy read, definitely pick this one up.
