Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book 3 in the Carrington Cove book series but can be read as a stand-alone. This time it’s Grady’s turn to fall in love. He’s a former MLB pitcher that was injured and had to retire early. He returned to his small hometown and bought an auto repair garage. He should be content, but he’s restless. His friends are settling down and he wants that too. Enter Scottie.

Scottie and Grady knew each other in high school. She was the one that got away. Scottie returns to Carrington Cove over Christmas and they bump into each other and spend one hot night together. The next day, she’s gone and Grady heartbroken.

A few months later Scottie leaves her husband and returns to Carrington Cove with her teenage son. Shortly thereafter she finds out she’s pregnant. Grady is excited and wants to start a life together, but after dealing with a lying, cheating husband, she doesn’t trust men. So, Grady works on wearing her down.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a great job bringing the characters alive. I couldn’t stop listening to the book. Grady is a great cinnamon roll book boyfriend. Once he decided to go for his dream of having a family, he went all-in. Scottie was understandably prickly about accepting Grady’s help and kept him at arms length throughout most of the book, despite her clear attraction to him and their chemistry together. I like how patient and consistent Grady was with Scottie, proving he was trustworthy.

Accidental pregnancy isn’t a trope I read very often, but this book was sweet and I loved the characters. I also like that the author included characters from previous books to provide support and encouragement to the couple.

I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. Each book is unique and the tropes are different so nothing seems repetitive. The series is available on KU and I encourage you to read them all.

I received a complimentary audiobook from The Author Agency. All opinions are my own.

Meet Harlow James
Steamy Romance Author
Harlow James is a pen name I use to protect my identity as a high school teacher. Keeping those two
roles in my life separate is necessary, but also fun! It’s like a live two lives, and anonymity gives me the
opportunity to be bold and take risks in my stories.
I stumbled upon romance novels in 2018 when I picked up Driven by Kristy Bromberg, and I was
obsessed. I had just lost my grandmother too, so reading offered me an escape from reality and a
chance to grieve on my own terms.
About a year later, I got an idea for my own book and started writing. I researched self-publishing and
jumped in with both feet. I had no idea what I was doing!
But now I’ve built a business and hobby that I LOVE! I have an outlet that’s just for me. When I write, I’m
not a mom, a wife, or a teacher…I’m a woman who gets to tell stories that no one else can.
My books are the perfect blend of heartwarming moments, full-bellied laughs, and PLENTY of steam to
melt your Kindles. And there are always elements of me sprinkled in to every character and story that
I write.
When I’m not writing you can find me reading or spending time in my kitchen. I love to cook and feed my
family and friends. Otherwise, you can find me watching comedy specials with my husband, camping
with our kids, or taking naps. I live for naps
