This is a cute paranormal rom com about an independent woman teaming up with her vampire neighbor to get to the bottom of a zombie outbreak conspiracy. Edie tries to save her bumbling “bro” neighbor Max from a zombie attack, but he’s not what he seems and ends up saving her instead. Somehow You Knew (Carrington Cove #5) by Harlow James

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is the fifth and final book in the Carrington Cove series and am I so sad to see it go. This book was the perfect send off, however, where the Shepard’s baby girl Hazel finally gets her HEA. Who knew it would end up being Gage, the nephew of Diane, an elderly lady she befriended after taking pictures of the Diane’s dog. Somehow Diane knew that Hazel and Gage were perfect for each other, but since both had sworn off love and relationships, Diane had to get sneaky to bring them together.

I Could Be Yours (The Toronto Terror Series) by Helena Hunting

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a sweet and spicy contemporary rom com between Essie and her best friend’s brother Nate. They had a brief encounter and Nate ghosted her afterwards because he was leaving to go to college. Now they are forced to work together as the best man/maid of honor to help plan the happy couple’s destination wedding. Essie is beautiful, sweet, and thoughtful. People are drawn to her, but it seems only because of her looks without getting to know the real her. This makes her sad and fearful that she’ll never find her HEA. Nate was burned by a past relationship and that, coupled with his mother abandoning the family when he was a kid, turns him off love. He doesn’t think it’s real or that he’s capable of a lasting relationship.

Bananapants by Penny Reid

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This book is set in the Knitting in the City/Winston Brother’s universe and follows the story of two adult children of some of the original MCs in the previous book series. I listened to the audio of this book and the narrators did a great job. Ava is a tax attorney and misses her childhood best friend, who just disappeared from her life, leaving her heartbroken. Des is a professional thief and after having a huge blowout with his father, hasn’t been back to Chicago in 10 years. The only reason he’s back is to help a friend that was swindled. He needs to break into an elite secret society to take back what was stolen. Who need he’d run into Ava during one of his operations.

Writing Mr. Wrong by Kelley Armstrong

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is a cute hockey second chance rom com. Gemma is an author and wrote a romance featuring a jerk based on her first crush. He just happens to be bad boy NHL player Mason. They knew each other growing up and after he allowed his friends to embarrass her, he was dead to her. Gemma and Mason are both going through their own crisis with their future, and are struggling with how to get through it. When Gemma appears on a tv talk show with a former classmate and she ambushes her with Mason, pointing out that he must be her inspiration for her new book, their publicists jump on the chance to help further their careers. They end up fake dating, and we all know what happens next.

The Bad Boy Rule (Hellcats Hockey #1) by Maren Moore

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Saint is the hockey bad boy of Orleans campus. He hits ’em and quits ’em, never kissing, cuddling, spending the night, or sleeping with the same girl twice. His life is hard and complicated and his sole focus is protecting his mother and making it to the NHL to give them both a better life. So the last thing he needs is a privileged do-gooder ice skater barging into his life and making him constantly think about what’s underneath that cute skirt.

The Love Haters by Katherine Center

Rating: 3 out of 5.

It hurts my heart to give this rating to a Katherine Center book. Normally I love them. Sadly, this one missed the mark for me. The writing is still good and the characters were pretty well formed, I just didn’t really like either of them or care about the plot.

Story of My Life (Story Lake, #1) by Lucy Score

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This book is an absolute delight!! Hazel is a successful romance writer that’s just suffered a really bad breakup. Since then, she’s been wallowing in depression and is suffering writer’s block. Although I’m not an author, I can so relate to how stuck Hazel is, and her bestie Zoey is the kind of friend every floundering woman needs to kick her butt and get her moving. Desperate for inspiration, Hazel impulse-buys a historic home online and flees Manhattan to tiny Story Lake, PA. Upon her dramatic arrival―involving an incident with a bald eagle―she discovers the charm of her new home may have been slightly exaggerated. Especially when she runs into perpetual grump Campbell. He’s a bit too grumpy for me, but he was redeemed the further the story went along.

Mr. Charming (The Nest, #4) by Piper Rayne

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is the fourth book in a spicy hockey rom com series, but can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read the other books and didn’t feel too lost. This book focuses on the romance between Tweety and Tedi, a couple that had been together but broke up a few years ago. Tedi is the head of a team that manages social media accounts for the hockey league and is sent to Chicago to manage the accounts of the Falcons, where her ex Tweety plays. They agree that their relationship will stay strictly business, but of course, that never works. Tedi even goes so far as to get a fake boyfriend (an MLB player that is her brother’s best friend), but those never work in the end.
