Penalty Play (Boston Rebels, #5) by Julia Connors

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I love this hockey romance series, and Aiden and Morgan’s story is another great addition to this funny, flirty, and steamy series. What started out as a one-night fling in Bermuda gets complicated when the duo discover they are new step-siblings. Thinking they will never see each other again, but secretly hoping they would, both are shocked when they walk into their jobs and find the other there. Despite their vow to be professional, they can’t deny the attraction and decide to have a secret friends-with-benefits arrangement. No feelings, no commitment. Like that ever works.

This is a twisty mystery thriller about a very private woman living in London that feels like someone is following her. And they are – and planning to kill her.

Nell has a secret past that she changed her name to hide. She limits her social circle and holds back her secrets from her new partner Alex. Nell can’t shake the feeling that someone is following her and she wonders if it has something to do with her past. Before she was Nell, she was Elle. This is a twisty mystery/thriller set at an exclusive recovery retreat for the rich and famous. It’s tucked away in the Hamptons and this time Lord Edward, fighting an addiction to pain medication after a terrible accident, Amelia Blue, the daughter of a 90s rock legend struggling with an eating disorder; and Florence Bloom, a pop star trying to lay low after her latest tabloid scandal are the guests. Embers of You (Amity #1) by Madi Danielle

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a very sweet, heartwarming contemporary small town romance between dog groomer Sutton and firefighter Jameson. Sutton fled L.A. because of some messed-up family drama and landed in small town Amity, WA. She is hired by a small grooming business which overlooks the town fire department and the hot men that work there, including Jameson. Sutton has no desire to get involved with anyone, but Jameson is intent on wearing her down.

Peaches and Pucks by M.A. Wardell

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a sweet and spicy novella romance between Harry and Darius, two teachers at the same school. Harry agrees to chaperone the boy’s hockey team on a road trip even though he knows nothing about hockey and the gym teacher, Darius, has teased him relentlessly for the last 4 years. But, road trips have a way of lessening inhibitions and when the only room left at the hotel for Darius and Harry has one bed, Harry discovers that not only is Darius not straight (much to Harry’s dismay), but he’s attracted to Harry. The couple connect, but of course, real life gets in the way once they get home.

Your Knife, My Heart (Dark Forces, #1) by K. M. Moronova

Rating: 5 out of 5.

4.5 stars rounded up

Wow, what a wild ride! What did I just read? I requested this book because of these two lines in the book blurb:

Cameron Mortem has a problem―he can’t stop killing his partners.

His one directive? Don’t kill the new girl.

I was intrigued, but had no idea how crazy good this book would be. I couldn’t put it down and literally read it in one sitting, and then went straight to Kindle Unlimited and downloaded the second book in the series My Blade, Your Back and read that book in less than 24 hours. So. Freaking. Good.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Callie gave up her career on the east coast to follow her husband’s job to Sacramento, CA for just a “couple years”. Twenty years later her husband dumps her for a new woman with a baby on the way. All the Little Houses by May Cobb

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This book is a trip! It’s written by the author of The Hunting Wives and is so, so messy. The characters are absolutely despicable – it’s total popcorn fun! I especially liked it because it was set in the 1980s.

The book is told from the prospective of four main characters – Charleigh, Nellie, Jane, and Jackson.
