The author is fantastic at writing banter between characters and she did not disappoint in this book. Jo Jo and Cooper’s relationship was so entertaining. They were able to be their authentic self with each other, warts and all, and it reminded me of my bestie and I.

Jo Jo is about to get married when Cooper shows up out of the blue from London and surprises her. Jo Jo leaves her fiancé at the alter and decides the solution to her intimacy problems is getting together with her childhood crush. She plots with her sister to snag him while on her sister’s cruise ship wedding. To her dismay, Cooper shows up on the cruise despite RSVPing he wouldn’t attend. She drags Cooper in as her wingman and the antics begin.

I loved Jo Jo’s relationship with her sister and her grandmother was a hoot. It’s always a joy to see girl power in action. Jo Jo is such a hot mess and tends to get into the craziest situations. I can totally relate to her awkwardness. I also loved how her relationship with her father changed. He finally opened up to her and she was able to finally understand him. It healed a lot of the hurt between them, and he proved his devotion to his wife and family.

Despite all of the antics, and her interludes with Cooper, the story seemed to drag in the middle. I felt like things kept repeating themselves and the story didn’t move forward quickly enough. I’m also not a fan of miscommunication and there was a lot of that in this book. Don’t get me wrong, the book is good, however this is probably my least favorite book by this author so far.

I listened to the audio of this book and the narrator did a great job. I was able to distinguish between the different characters and her voice was very expressive.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. All opinions are my own.
