This is a great finish to this book series……or is it?? I just discovered that the author is writing a fourth Gunnie Rose book (release date 2022) – no idea what the plot will be because the main storyline of this series wrapped up in this book, but there are definitely enough loose ends to continue the series another several books, which I would love.

I loved this book. It’s a heart-warming, quiet book that reaffirms your belief in love and friendship. It’s set sometime after WWII (I think maybe the early 50’s) in a tiny town in Florida. Sheriff Winston Browne watches over his town with a generous spirit, even after he receives terrible, life-altering news. When a young girl with a dangerous secret shows up in town all alone, Winston takes her under his wing and ensures she is cared for and protected. That includes housing her with his best friend’s girlfriend, who he starts to romance after she and his best friend part ways.

Durst has done it again -written a fantastic, can’t-put-down, stand alone fantasy book. I love her writing, I love her characters and I love her original story-telling. I get excited every time she releases a new book – and this one does not disappoint.
The story is set in the kingdom of Vos. The kingdom has bone makers who can animate bones to create objects that can do a variety of things, like clean, send messages, etc. They also create charms that give people a limited amount of “super-powers”, like strength, speed, stealth, etc. These creations are made from animal bones – the use of human bones is illegal.

This is a good second book in the trilogy, and focuses mainly on Marilia’s twin brother Annuweth. He is still bitter about the injuries he sustained, and about Marilia’s successes in the war. As Marilia tries to step back from warfare and power, Annueweth plots to grab it an any cost.

This is a very good historical fiction set in Paris during WWII and is based on a true story. Odile is a young French girl who dreams of working at the American Library in Paris. She obtains her dream job, forming deep friendships with the other workers. She also starts to date a handsome police officer introduced to her by her father. When war breaks out and the Nazis occupy Paris, she and her fellow librarians are determined to keep the library open. They send valuable books out of town to safety, and they smuggle books to Jewish patrons that are forbidden from going to the library.

This is a fun piece of fluff that is a somewhat enjoyable read. It centers around three women, all facing different difficulties, who bond over their love of food. Trista left her life as a lawyer behind (we never find out why) and buys the bar/restaurant she worked at while in law school. It needs a big makeover if she’s ever going to earn a living from it. Margo is a part-time real estate agent who loves to cook and has recently been dumped by her self-absorbed husband. While it’s a blessing in disguise, she must navigate finding a career to support herself with renovating a run-down farm she inherited in the divorce. Aja wants to learn to cook better and is looking for good friends who will support her through an unplanned pregnancy.
