This is a nice, quiet book that is an easy read. Hannah fled her small hometown for London after school. She married a successful and wealthy lawyer, had a daughter, and lived a sophisticated life. Years later when she discovers he’s being unfaithful, she packs her daughter up and moves back to her small hometown in Ireland. The crimes span several states and the team has almost ne leads. The crimes bring up bad memories for Jess and when her former partner returns from a long undercover assignment, she begins to spiral out of control. This was a pretty good debut book by this author. Not outstanding, but a solid book. The story begins with a terrible act of violence. Oliver, a handsome, successful children’s book author hits his wife Alice and watches as she cowers on the floor. He dispassionately watches her reaction to his assault, and then leaves the house to get drunk. Hours later he returns to the house and is confronted by Alice with secrets from his past. This is a really good start to a new fantasy series. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, but certainly won’t be the last. The story is set in a “Kingdom” that reminds me of feudal China or Japan. The King is sick and dying with no heir. Members from the three ruling families sit on the King’s Council. It’s Millard Salter’s 75 birthday. He starts the day meeting with a woman he has recently fallen in love with and helps with her final plans to kill herself that day. He plans to join her in the afterlife at the end of the day. He then goes to his work as the head of the psychiatric department of a local hospital. Millard has his final day planned out between visits with his children, final plans for his colleagues and a visit to his last wife’s cemetery plot. This is another fun book in the Aurora Teagarden book series. In this book, Aurora has just given birth to daughter Sophie. She and Aubrey are settling into the routine of new parents when the body of a murdered woman is found in their backyard. Once again, the couple is embroiled in a crazy mystery that they can’t help but try to solve themselves.
As usual, the book is a quick, fun, effortless read. It has humor and enough twists to keep the reader engaged to the end.

I really enjoyed this book. Eleanor Oliphant is socially awkward and speaks her mind. She works as a finance clerk in a graphic design company. When she was a child she suffered a terrible tragedy which left her with physical and emotional scars. She’s quite content to live her solitary life, eating pizza and drinking vodka. That is, until she has a chance encounter with the new IT guy, Raymond. She and Raymond come to the rescue of an elderly man, Sammy, that has fallen in the street. Her continued interaction with Raymond and Sammy forces her to realize that perhaps she doesn’t have to go through life on her own.
