This is book one in a new mystery series set on the Island of Guernsey. The main character, Jennifer Dorey, has returned to Guernsey after living in London and working as a journalist. While there, she conducted an investigation for a story that put her life in danger. Realizing that she needed to get away from the memories, she returns to her hometown to work for the small town newspaper.

When a young girl’s body is found on the beach, Jennifer suspects that it’s not a suicide as first thought. As she investigates the young girl’s death, she discovers that several more young girls have died under suspicious circumstances in the past 50 years. She shares this information with DCI Michael Gilbert and together they try to solve the mysterious deaths.

This book is well-paced and interesting. The characters are intriguing. I will read more books in this series.
