This is the first book in a really good mystery series centered around Deputy Sheriff Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner Robo. Mattie is fresh out of the K-9 Academy and learning to use Robo in the field and trust his instincts. Their partnership is put to the test when a young high school girl is found murdered in the woods and Mattie uncovers what could possibly be a drug ring in her small town.

With the help of Cole Walker, a local veterinarian and recently divorced single father to two small girls, and a brash female detective from a bigger town, Mattie tries to find the truth before anyone else gets hurt.

I discovered this series and read the third book in the series first and liked it so much, I decided to go back and read the first 2 books in the series.
