Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is book three of the 6:20 man series but can be read as a stand-alone. I thought I’d read the first two books, but turns out, I hadn’t. No worries. The author provides enough back story on the main character Travis Devine so the reader does not feel too lost. Travis is ex-military, worked as a Wall Street trader, and has enough skills and survival sense to deal with whatever is thrown at him. This time he’s asked to help the FBI escort 12 year old orphan Betsy to meet with her uncle – a guy he served with in a battle overseas. But the uncle is now a criminal kingpin facing RICO charges.

Something about the deaths of Betsy’s parents doesn’t sit right and Travis starts digging around, only to find more questions than answers. Things start getting dangerous and go from bad to worse when the girl on the train in Switzerland that tried to kill him in the previous book shows up trying to finish the job.

This book is a typical Baldacci book. Full of interesting complex characters, crazy situations, and lots and lots of twists. I really like Travis and look forward to reading the first two books so I can get a better picture of everything that he’s capable of doing. He’s a pretty big badass and someone I’d like having my back if I was ever in trouble. The scenario the book is ultimately about is, quite frankly, terrifying. Not only because of what it is, but because it could be oh so real. {shudder} Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.

If you like your books with badass guys that kick butt, lots of intrigue, twists, and fight scenes, pick this one up today.

I received a complimentary hardback from Grand Central Publishing. All opinions are my own.
