Rating: 4 out of 5.

This book is set in the Knitting in the City/Winston Brother’s universe and follows the story of two adult children of some of the original MCs in the previous book series. I listened to the audio of this book and the narrators did a great job. Ava is a tax attorney and misses her childhood best friend, who just disappeared from her life, leaving her heartbroken. Des is a professional thief and after having a huge blowout with his father, hasn’t been back to Chicago in 10 years. The only reason he’s back is to help a friend that was swindled. He needs to break into an elite secret society to take back what was stolen. Who need he’d run into Ava during one of his operations.

The author does a great job depicting Des’s bipolar/ADHD condition and my heart broke when he struggled. Ava’s got her own struggles and it was sweet how she and Des supported each other. It was wonderful when their parents and others from the previous books appeared in the story. It reminded me just how much I loved those books. This book was a bit slow for me, and the storyline stalled a couple times, but overall it was cute, spicy, and funny. I hope the author revisits this world again for future books.
