Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a very cute hockey romance book involving a runaway bride and a guy who’s had a secret crush on her for years. When Summer crawls out the church window in her wedding dress and lands on Hatch, it was kismet. He sweeps her away to a family house and gives her the time and space to figure things out.

I haven’t read a book with a runaway bride trope, but I liked it. It helps that Summer’s fiancé Dash was a total douchebag that you can’t help but hate. Summer’s humble southern past rises up in her inner dialogue with “Shelby Mae” and I loved the snarky observations and comments “she” makes. Hatch and Summer both have issues to deal with that prevent them from moving forward in their lives. They are patient and supportive of each other, and their friendship, and then relationship, deepens.

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. It’s definitely worth a read!
