This is a sweet and spicy novella romance between Harry and Darius, two teachers at the same school. Harry agrees to chaperone the boy’s hockey team on a road trip even though he knows nothing about hockey and the gym teacher, Darius, has teased him relentlessly for the last 4 years. But, road trips have a way of lessening inhibitions and when the only room left at the hotel for Darius and Harry has one bed, Harry discovers that not only is Darius not straight (much to Harry’s dismay), but he’s attracted to Harry. The couple connect, but of course, real life gets in the way once they get home.
Harry is skeptical of Darius and although he’d love a relationship with him, he doesn’t trust him and thinks their differences are too big to overcome. Nothing Darius says or does convinces him otherwise. I can understand Harry’s reluctance, but it broke my heart to see him deny what he wants due to fear. I also felt bad for Darius because no matter what he said or did, he couldn’t seem to prove himself to Harry. The author does a great job putting all the emotions and spice of a full book into a short novella. The characters are well rounded and the angst and emotion is all there.
I received a complimentary e-copy of this book from Grey Promotions. All opinions are my own.
