This is the first book in a really good mystery series centered around Deputy Sheriff Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner Robo. Mattie is fresh out of the K-9 Academy and learning to use Robo in the field and trust his instincts. Their partnership is put to the test when a young high school girl is found murdered in the woods and Mattie uncovers what could possibly be a drug ring in her small town. Her sister moved there because her husband got a job in the new fulfillment center in town. The town’s economy is crumbling and it has a rampant opioid addiction problem. When a woman and man contact the president with an offer to stop the attack, he goes incognito and slips out of the White House to meet them. Discovering that the threat is real and is set to start the next day, the President goes missing in an effort to stop the imminent attack.
