This was a good, quick read. It has plenty of twists and turns and is an interesting story. Emily meets Adam and thinks he’s the perfect man. Soon after they meet they plunge head-long into a serious relationship. After only a few months they’ve moved in together. Everything is perfect – except Adam’s mother Pammie. The Wanted (Elvis Cole #17) by Robert Crais

the wanted

This is another good Elvis Cole and Joe Pike novel. Elvis is hired by a single mother to look into cash and jewelry that her teenage son Tyson has in his possession. She suspects that he’s dealing drugs and wants Elvis to intervene. Elvis thinks the case will be easy and only take a couple hours to resolve. What he discovers is that Tyson has two partners and is responsible for a string of high-profile, high-end burglaries. As Elvis continues to investigate, people start turning up dead and Tyson and his burglary partners go missing. Continue reading “The Wanted (Elvis Cole #17) by Robert Crais”

This is a new police crime series set in Paris centering on disgraced police officer Anne Capestan. She is suspended from duty for shooting and killing a suspect. Fearing that she is about to be fired, Capestan reports to HQ to learn her fate and is surprised by being assigned to run a new unit that will focus on cold cases. The catch? During all of their missions, Will Robie and Jessica Reel had one constant – Blue Man. So when they both come back from dangerous missions and are told that he is missing, they immediately take action to find him. Their search takes them to his small hometown in rural Colorado. Deja Moo (Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum #1) by Kirsten Weiss

Deja Moo

3.5 stars (release date March 8, 2018)

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

This was a fun, fluffy, quick cozy mystery read. This is the third book in the series. I haven’t read the other books in the series, but there was enough backstory in the book so that I didn’t feel too lost. Maddie Kosloski runs a paranormal museum in the small town of San Benedetto. Normally her museum is the number one tourist attraction in town. Every Christmas, however, the town puts up a 30 foot straw cow and puts it in the town square – and every year someone sets it on fire. The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld

the child finder

4.5 Stars

I loved this book. It’s both heartbreaking and hopeful. It draws you in and you won’t want to put the book down.

Naomi was once a “lost girl” and managed to escape her captors. Haunted by her past and frustrated with her inability to remember what happened to her, she earns a living as a private investigator tracking down lost and missing children. Her relentless determination in pursuing the children earns her the nickname “The Child Finder”. Continue reading “The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld”

The Late Shift (Renee Ballard, #1) by Michael Connelly

The late show

4 stars

I really enjoyed this book. This book introduces a new series regular, Det. Renee Ballard. She filed a sexual harassment complaint against a popular Lt. Her partner witnessed the incident, but refused to back her story and the complaint was denied. As punishment, Ballard was transferred out of the prestigious unit and moved to the night shift in Hollywood. There, she starts many investigations, but at the end of her shift has to turn them over to the day shift, never getting to follow through with any of them. Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent

Unraveling oliver

3.5 stars

This was a pretty good debut book by this author. Not outstanding, but a solid book. The story begins with a terrible act of violence. Oliver, a handsome, successful children’s book author hits his wife Alice and watches as she cowers on the floor. He dispassionately watches her reaction to his assault, and then leaves the house to get drunk. Hours later he returns to the house and is confronted by Alice with secrets from his past. Oliver proceeds to mercilessly beat Alice into a coma. Continue reading “Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent”
