This is an ok YA Fantasy Mystery/Thriller set in an elite boarding school in Switzerland. When the new school year starts, three best friends discover that their fourth best friend drowned in a lake on school grounds. The police rule it a suicide, but the girls believe differently.

Little Thieves (Little Thieves, #1) by Margaret Owen

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a good YAFantasy retelling of The Goose Girl. I had never heard of this fairytale, so I went in with no preconceived notions about the story. It took me awhile to get into the book, but once I did, I really enjoyed it.

The Orphan Witch by Paige Crutcher

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was an interesting contemporary paranormal fantasy. Persephone May is an orphan and has been alone her whole life. She wants nothing more than to belong somewhere, but whenever she tries to forge bonds with other people, unexplainable things happen and she finds herself moving on again.

This was a fun contemporary fantasy romance about witches in a small Illinois town vying to win a spellcasting tournament among the town’s founder families.

Among Thieves by M.J. Kuhn

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is a pretty good YA Fantasy that promises to turn into a fun, exciting series.

Ryia is known as “The Butcher” of Carrowick, a dockside city run by various gangs. Ryia is on the run from the powerful Guildmaster, the ruler of 5 kingdoms of Thamorr. Certain people are born with a gift for strength, speed, mind reading, sensing and other gifts and are called Adepts. They are taken by the Guildmaster as a baby and trained on an island. When they reach adulthood they are stripped of all identity and are sold to rich people as obedient servants who have no mind or will of their own.

Lady’s Ransom (The First Argetines, #3) by Jeff Wheeler

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is another great book in this fun YA Fantasy series that finds Ransom’s loyalties tested at home and with his king. Newly married, the couple arrive in Legault to reclaim the title that was Claire’s birth-right, but before the couple can make much progress on the dilapidated castle, Ransom is called away to serve King Benedict. Claire is upset and doesn’t want him to go, but Ransom’s duty is to answer his King’s call.

Requiem of Silence (Earthsinger Chronicles #4) by L. Penelope

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a satisfying last book in a great fantasy series. Jasminda and Kyara face their final showdown with the True Father, who remains determined to conquer Elsira. Recently escaped from the palace dungeons, and potentially getting help from his twin sister The Goddess Awoken, the True Father has a new army of wraiths that can’t be killed and can only be stopped by Nethersong and the help of Earthsingers.

Paper & Blood (Ink & Sigil #2) by Kevin Hearne

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Another great book in Hearne’s new spinoff of the Iron Druid Chronicles series. This book has Al, Buck, Nadia, an Australian apprentice sigil agent and the Iron Druid tracking down the apprentice’s missing mentor and another sigil agent in the Australian Outback. Once they track the general location where the sigil agents went missing, they quickly run into some very strange monsters that are determined to eat and kill their way through everyone they face.

A Cup of Silver Linings (Dove Pond #2) by Karen Hawkins

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is another cute, sweet book in the Dove Pond series. In this story, Ava Dove, 6th of 7 Dove daughters and owner of a landscaping and gourmet tea business is suffering trouble with three teas she made for her regular customers, just before the grand opening of her new tea shop. Frantic to solve the problem, and with growing blows to her reputation and canceled orders, Ava isolates herself and scrambles to fix the problem.
