This was a really good contemporary romance suspense book. Charlie Ravenel served in the military and was injured in combat. She now works for an elite company that provides bodyguard services for high profile clients. Charlie is assigned to protect a young actress working on a popular television series. The actress is receiving threatening notes and it’s unknown if the perpetrator works on the set or is an outside threat.
Another actor on set is Daniel Pierce. He’s a hot, A-list actor that is sought after by women and men alike. He is currently single and has set his eyes on Charlie. Charlie can’t get involved or she’d be reassigned. Plus, she’s been alone for six long years since her combat injuries, and she’s not sure she’s ready to trust, or love, again. But, Daniel is persistent and Charlie eventually gives in. But will it be just a fling or could it be more?
I really enjoyed this first book in a new series and will definitely read future books. Charlie is a total bad-ass but is also compassionate and devoted to her friends. Her co-workers are a hoot and I loved their banter with each other. It’s clear they care deeply for each other and have each other’s backs. I liked the way Charlie investigates the mystery of who is tormenting the young actress.
I also really enjoyed the way Charlie and Daniel’s relationship developed. Their chemistry was HOT and I loved they way they got to know each other. Their relationship was total escapism, which is what you read these kind of books for, and it didn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for a mystery book with a side of romance, this is the book for you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Katie and Brey PA and the author. All opinions are my own.
