This was such a cute, fun romcom that I devoured in one sitting. Talent scout Eleanor is in Las Vegas trying to sign a popular alt-rock group to her record label. She needs it to save her job. Unfortunately, Adam shows up also intending to sign the band. He’s her arch rival and former colleague who recently poached the top performing artist from Eleanor’s roster. When the band decides to party after dinner there is no way Eleanor is going to let the band go with only Adam. Skip to Eleanor and Adam waking up in bed together wearing wedding bands. Uh oh!!
The rest of the book is a series of unfortunate events resulting in a very funny day following Eleanor and Adam, proudly wearing hotel slippers, valiantly trying to get an annulment. They find it’s not quite as easy as they thought, and not nearly as cheap. Anything that could go wrong does, and the hungover couple’s wit, ingenuity, and determination serves them well.
Eleanor goes from a prickly, self-defensive, anxious woman desperately trying to save her job to a more patient, confident person able to laugh at herself and her circumstances. She tries really hard to resist her attraction to Adam’s charm, but eventually relents. Adam is patient and comforting with Eleanor, even when she snarls at him and pushes him away. It was awesome when the stopped fighting the sparks between them and caved to their desires.
I received a complimentary copy from Atria Books. All opinions are my own.
