The Last King (The Ninth Century #1) by M.J. Porter

the last king

3.5 stars

This historical fiction book about Coelwulf, a battle-hardened warrior with royal blood, and his fight to save his beloved Mercia from a Viking horde is not for those with delicate sensibilities. But if you can withstand a hard-fighting, bloody book with adult language, this is the one for you. Continue reading “The Last King (The Ninth Century #1) by M.J. Porter”

Shorefall (Founders, #2) by Robert Jackson Bennett

shorefall

3.5 stars

I loved Foundryside, the first book in this series, and anxiously awaited the second. So, when I was finally able to read and review this book, I was giddy with excitement. Sadly, it fell into the all-too-common “second book” funk. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but it fell short in comparison to book one. Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier

little secrets

This emotional mystery/thriller about a woman’s downward spiral after the kidnapping of her 4 year old son, and the crumbling of her 20 year marriage, will suck you in and not let go until the end. I loved the author’s previous book, Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier, so was thrilled when I got the chance to read and review this book. Continue reading “Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier”

The New Husband by D.J. Palmer

the new husband

3 stars

This mystery/thriller messed with my feelings. One minute I liked it, the next minute I hated it, the next minute I scoffed at it. It’s a typical mystery book, with a few twists that make it a bit more interesting than the norm. Continue reading “The New Husband by D.J. Palmer”

The Last Human by Zack Jordan

2.5 stars

the last human

This is a promising science fiction book that took a weird turn in the middle and went down hill from there. I was enjoying the book even though the premise was a bit weird, because, you know, I like weird – but only to a point. The author lost me about 60 percent into the book and I couldn’t wait to finish it and be done with it. Continue reading “The Last Human by Zack Jordan”

You are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

you are not alone

I really enjoyed Hendricks previous book, so was thrilled when I was given the chance to read and review her new one, and it did not disappoint. It was a compelling, twisty mystery/thriller that kept me interested until the end. Continue reading “You are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen”
