Sancia Grado is a very good thief. Her natural talents are enhanced by a magical scrived plate in her head that allows her to sense the condition of objects to their molecular level. This helps her commit burglaries with amazing success. Merchant Houses control the magical technology called scriving that is used to code objects to improve or enhance their properties. This was a great ending to a fun series. The action picks up shortly after the events in The Silent Shield. The Forbidden Court has been torched and Gahalatine blames Trynne. He accuses her of treachery and issues an ultimatum. Meanwhile, Kingfountain is threatened once again by Morwenna. She will stop at nothing to quench her thirst for revenge and the throne. This was a good, quick read. It has plenty of twists and turns and is an interesting story. Emily meets Adam and thinks he’s the perfect man. Soon after they meet they plunge head-long into a serious relationship. After only a few months they’ve moved in together. Everything is perfect – except Adam’s mother Pammie. This was a fun, quick read. The story is set in a world similar to England after WWII. A group of wealthy families control the weather with their unique magical abilities. Miles Singer had an unhappy childhood and was fated to be enslaved by the interests of his family or committed to a witches asylum. All he ever wanted to do was become a doctor and heal people. Miles fakes his own death, runs away and joins the military, who put him through medical school. This was an ok book. The major plot points were pretty predictable, but it was still a fun read. Drystan, Temple Knight of Lyonesse, is sent to retrieve the betrothed of his uncle, the Duke of Tintagel. When Eselt and Drystan meet, there are immediate sparks between the two. As they start the journey back to Tintagel, the couple can’t resist getting together and start a doomed love affair. When they reach the Duke’s house, cruel soldier Purin discovers their affair and is determined to tell the Duke. The Queen of Sorrow (The Queens of Renthia #3) by Sarah Beth Durst

This is a satisfying ending to a fun trilogy.

After Queen Daleina and Queen Naelin thwarted Queen Merecot of Semo’s invasion, the Queens of Aratay hope that their people can finally have peace. As Queen Naelin is on a tour of the country to meet her people and help heal areas damaged by the last battle, her children are kidnapped. Blaming Queen Merecot, Naelin loses control and is ready to go to war. But Merecot has other plans than just taking over Aratay. She thinks she can banish all spirits out of Renthia forever. Could this dangerous plan actually work?

This was a very fun, interesting trilogy. I’m sad to see it end, but look forward to reading new books by this author.

If the infection spreads enough in the person’s body, it is deadly. Thomas Fawkes is the son of legendary Guy Fawkes. WOW. Fredrik Backman has done it again with his sequel to the book Beartown. What an amazing book. I started this book at 10pm and literally could not put it down. I didn’t stop reading until 9am the next morning when I finished the book.

Beartown is a hockey town in the forest of Sweden. After the town was shattered by the events in Beartown, the town must decide how it will go on after they are told that their beloved hockey team will be disbanded. To add insult to injury, most of their talented players and their successful coach have decided to play for their arch rival team in Hed.
