I love visiting the Colburn Brothers once again and watching Tucker finally fall in love! This is book 3 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Tucker and Hazel were a thing in high school until she left town at 18 and Tucker failed to go with her. Hazel is back in town temporarily to help her estranged dad who suffered a heart attack. Once he’s settled, she’s out.
Well, that wouldn’t be a fun book to read, would it? Of course she and Tucker are going to see each other! The heat is still there and it’s up to Tucker to figure out a way to keep Hazel from running again. Hazel has good reasons for not wanting to stay in town and she can’t seem to accept that people have changed. She is very reluctant to trust and remains very closed off for most of the book. Tucker is patient, kind, understanding and understands Hazel has to figure things out on her own if there is any chance she’ll decide to stay.
I wish Hazel had come around earlier in the book because after awhile it felt a bit repetitive, but that is a minor complaint. I loved the couple together and of course the extended family are awesome. They provided a lot humor and witty banter and snark to a story that got heavy at times.
I hope we get one more book so the Colburn sister gets some love too!
I received a complimentary audiobook of this book from Hambright PR. All opinions are my own.
